I am currently doing my teaching practicum at a middle Georgia Elementary School in a 4th grade science class. I can honestly say that I am thoroughly enjoying myself. My teacher’s teaching style is very hands- on, therefore the students are very eager to learn the material. Another thing I like about my classroom is a lot of the skills my teacher implements are things that I have just recently learned in my classroom at school. Strategies such as the word wall, exit and admit slips are among some of the things that I have previously learned. It ‘s one thing to learn about the different strategies but to see them utilized and actually be successful is truly a learning experience. The students really learned something from these particular strategies.
Another thing that I love about my teacher is that she allows me to be involved with students. My teacher allows me to interact and help the students just as much as she does. By working with the students, I am able to find my own teaching style and see how well it works with the students. My teacher also respects the students, and I love that about her. She says please and thank you to the students and in return they do the same to her. Believe it or not respect between the student and the teacher creates a better learning environment.
Science is my favorite subject and but a lot of people find it to be very challenging. Although I can’t make anyone love science, I can make sure that my students understand Science. I plan on doing that by using different strategies to get students interested in the material that I’m teaching. My hopes are to produce a structured , fun, and caring learning environment.
I like the way you are using this time to figure out your own strategies for your future classroom. I know you personally and I know that you love science and you will make it interesting and fun for your students.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that your teacher is not just letting you sit there but she is welcoming you into her classroom by allowing you to help. This not only takes a load off of the teacher but it helps you get a feel for how you would like to run your classroom. I'm sure you will be a dynamic teacher, and I look forward to seeing where your journey in education takes you.
